Thanks for checking in folks. Well a year older and it feels like it, but I'm jazzed to preach paradiddles
by day and make a beat and a buck by night. I have a number of projects in the books for 08. Ms. Lauryn Hill
is having her newest child of her clan so her world is now invested with her latest family addition, translation
no crazy tours for a few months. However this pause for the cause has no effect on my busyness what so ever.
I was recently hired by Santa Clara University (web link) to conduct a World Percussion class. The quarter
starts this first week of April and I am looking forward to contributing to the schools curriculum this year.
For all you "Jazz Campers" out there I will be on faculty for
Jazz Camp West again. I highly recommend folks jump on this. The camp is great and the faculty is phenomenal for all instruments and musical styles.
And lastly I received a call from the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps in Madison,Wisconsin to help coordinate
some percussion parts for this year summer program, got cheese?
The local scene has got it going on. I'll will be in the studio with Machina Sol recording at Jeremy Goody's
newly built studio come mid-April. Carne Cruda has finished with our rhythm
tracks recorded at the Music Annex under the watchful eye of Grammy nominee Greg Landau. The band is scheduled to head
back out to Europe in August so keep your heads up the band will be rockin' a country near you. And lastly
AguaLibre is in preproduction mode for the bands first release going for a HipHop
does Latin kinda sound with MC Rico Papon and Steve Hogan grabbing the reins on this.
Lastly I'd like to give a shot out to friend/badass Murray Gusseck
for naming an exercise after me entitled "Where's Flores" (recording courtesy Tapspace Publications):
The Santa Clara Vanguard drumline will have in this year warm-up repertoire, coming to a parking lot near you, thanks dude. All in all I'm truly looking
forward to what's to come in 08 keep checking in the calendar it's always up to date and let me know if you're your coming through I'd like to
say hey, till then take it easy, peace.

faculty for Jazz Camp West in late June. Come out and swing in the trees for a
week, I promise it will be awesome. The camp is great and the faculty is phenomenal.
All in all I'm truly looking forward to the release of these projects along with
being involved with a number of artists on the gig scene. And the teaching thing
is a treat in and of itself getting to work along side some of the great music
educators in the state. Keep checking in the calendar it's always up to date and
let me know if you're your coming through I'd like to say hey hey, till then take

This year has been quite an adventure. In June I was on a two week
tour through Brasil with Ms. Lauryn Hill and then four days after
returning home went back out for a five week tour through Europe.
We played as far north as the Arctic Circle in Norway and as far
south as Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Now, I am back home getting
back into the swing of things.
Current events include Groove School of Percussion
getting off the ground with classes beginning in October. You can peek at the website for information
about classes. Also Carne Cruda
is recording a movie sound track for a Lucha Libre documentary and at the
same time working on our second record. Another couple of projects I'm jazzed about are
AguaLibre (fka O-Maya)
and Machina Sol in the studio
preparing to record our first albums (cds) in October.
All in all things are moving quick and I'm enjoying the moment. Thanks again for checking
out the website. More media and info will be coming up soon. The calendar is updated so
keep in touch and take care, peace.

Europe and Japan and now Columbus Ohio...ahh yeah!!!
Well, all gigs come in different strides and sizes,
don't they? The Japan gig with Ms. Lauryn Hill was
quite an experience. Rockin' some fifteen thousand
fans was kinda cool. We are scheduled for some west
coast dates coming up in June along with some shows in
Brazil and Europe. I'm definitely looking forward to
that. Check my calendar and her website for info.
Now, as I said, I'm off to Ohio with some students
from Beyer HS in Modesto for the WGI Percussion
Championships. We're looking forward to inspire these
students to let it all out come show time. These kids
are playing some really cool material and doing some
very challenging drill moves. Check the
link
and you'll see what I mean. It's quite impressive.
Once I come back from that it's all business and
straight to the studio with a few projects I play with
and some session work. Friends and singer/songwriters
Lena Luna and Isaac Pena are working together writing
and producing Lena's upcoming solo record. She and
Isaac have come up with some great tunes and some hip
arrangements. The multiple influences of Stevie
Wonder, the Beatles, and Tina Marie are ever present.
We just laid down some bass and drum tracks last week,
so unfortunately the release of this record is still
some time away, but it promises to be worth the wait.
AguaLibre
is scheduled to get our first album
(follow-up to O-Maya's first record) at the end of
this month. The band recently shared some new songs
with fans at the Shattuck Downlow last month. We got
some good feed back from folks and friends. That's
always a good thing. Rico, Destini, Isaac, Steve, and
Valentino have brought some funkness to the table. A
little Cumbia HipHop, a dash of Timba and Reggaeton
always makes for the partay people to get down to.
Also, Carne Cruda
will be working with Bay Area music
producer Greg Landau for the follow-up to the Spicy
Sea Adventures album. This should and will be cool.
Greg has produced quite an eclectic group of artists
for the last thirty-some odd years. With multiple
Grammy nominations under his belt, the band is in good
hands. Currently the band has a few regular dates at
Bruno's in SF. Check the calendar for more info.
Well there you go. That is the haps. Thanks again for
stopping by the site. It is still a growing process
for me, this whole cyberthang, but I promise to keep
it updated. And "we" (Shekhar) will be putting up
some video, music clips, and more photos soon. Thanks
y'all and take it easy. Peace.

Life and music are doing well...I must say, preaching paradiddles by day
and making a beat and a buck by night have certainly been keeping me busy.
I recently did a gig with Lauryn Hill at the "W" and am currently getting
rocked by my Algebra class, but I am focusing on a few projects. Please
continue to check out the site for details, and I hope to hear from you
or see you on a gig. Thanks again...
